About Parma polylepis Günther, 1862

This species, commonly called the banded parma, has the scientific name Parma polylepis Günther, 1862. It is a large damselfish species that grows up to 21 centimeters in length. The banded parma can be identified by prominent bony knobs that sit above its eyes, and larger individuals of this species have larger bony knobs. It lives in marine waters off the coast of southeastern Australia, as well as around Lord Howe Island, Norfolk Island, New Caledonia, and northern New Zealand.
