About Paritamus geniculatus (Meigen, 1820)

This species, previously referred to as Neomochtherus geniculatus with the scientific name Paritamus geniculatus (Meigen, 1820), has an adult body length that ranges from approximately 9 to 20 millimetres (0.35 to 0.79 inches). As robber flies, they have a small facial gibbosity, with a small number of bristles that form the mystax. Their sternites are mostly shiny, their femora are black, and the widest point of their distinctly broadened hypopygium falls in the middle section. This species is found across Europe.
