About Parietaria floridana Nutt.

Parietaria floridana Nutt., commonly known as Florida pellitory, is a plant species native to the southeastern United States, the West Indies, and most of Latin America. In the United States, the core of its native range stretches from Florida north to Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Isolated populations have been recorded in Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, New Hampshire, Kentucky, and Delaware. Some populations previously identified as P. floridana in California are now classified as a separate distinct species, P. hespera. Florida pellitory is an annual or short-lived perennial branched herb. It can grow up to 40 cm tall, and sometimes grows prostrate along the ground. Its leaves reach a maximum length of 3 cm. Its flowers grow to no more than 4 mm across, and its achenes are less than 0.9 mm long.
