Parhelophilus rex Curran & Fluke, 1926, commonly called the Dusky Bog Fly, is a fairly common species of syrphid fly found in northern North America. Syrphid flies are also known as hoverflies, a group that can remain nearly motionless while in flight. Adult hoverflies of this species are also referred to as flower flies, because they are commonly found on flowers, where they collect energy-giving nectar and protein-rich pollen. The larval form of Parhelophilus rex is currently unknown.
