About Parectopa robiniella Clemens, 1863

Parectopa robiniella, commonly known as the locust digitate leafminer, is a moth species that belongs to the family Gracillariidae. This species is native to North America, but was accidentally introduced to Italy, where it was first recorded in 1970. It has currently been documented from Italy, France, Germany, Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Serbia, Slovakia, Romania, Ukraine, and Hungary. The wingspan of adult locust digitate leafminers is approximately 5 mm. In Hungary, this moth produces two to three generations per year. The larvae of Parectopa robiniella feed on plants in the Robinia genus, which includes Robinia pseudoacacia, and form mines within the leaves of their host plants.
