About Parectopa ononidis (Zeller, 1839)

Parectopa ononidis (Zeller, 1839) is a moth species belonging to the family Gracillariidae. It occurs across most of Europe, with the exceptions of Ireland and the Balkan Peninsula. This moth has a wingspan of approximately 8 millimeters. Adult moths are active from May to August, and the species produces two to three generations each year. The larvae of Parectopa ononidis feed on a specific set of host plants: Ononis repens, Ononis spinosa, Trifolium medium, Trifolium montanum, Trifolium ochroleucon, Trifolium pratense, and Trifolium repens. The larvae create mines within the leaves of their host plants.
