About Paraswammerdamia lutarea (Haworth, 1828)
Paraswammerdamia lutarea (Haworth, 1828) is a moth species belonging to the family Yponomeutidae, and it is found in Europe. The wingspan of this moth ranges from 11 to 14 mm. Its head is white, and sometimes has an ochreous tinge. The thorax is fuscous, and is sometimes sprinkled with whitish scales. Forewings are fuscous-whitish, and are closely speckled with dark fuscous; they have some longitudinal rows of indistinct dark fuscous dots, a complete dark fuscous fascia before the middle, and a white costal spot before the apex. Cilia are fuscous, marked with two darker lines. Hindwings are solid fuscous. The larva is deep brown, with a white subdorsal line that bears orange spots, and a white spiracular line that has orange spots above it on segments 5 to 12. The larval head is ochreous-brown with blackish markings. Adults are on wing in July, though the timing varies based on location. The larvae feed on Crataegus, Sorbus aucuparia, Rosa, and Cotoneaster horizontalis.
