Parasenegalia visco (Lorentz ex Griseb.) Seigler & Ebinger is a perennial tree. It is native to higher elevations in northern Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, and Peru, and has also been introduced to Africa. In Bolivia, it grows at altitudes between 1500 and 3000 meters. This tree reaches a height of 6 to 25 meters. It has light to dark reddish brown twigs, and produces fragrant yellow flowers in the spring. Some sources also describe its flowers as small white. Its common names are arca, visco, viscote, viscote blanco, and viscote negro. It is cultivated for use in cabinetmaking.
