About Parapoynx polydectalis (Walker, 1859)
Parapoynx polydectalis is a species of moth belonging to the family Crambidae. It was first described by Francis Walker in 1859. Its native range includes Indonesia (with records from Sumatra), New Guinea, and Australia; within Australia, it has been recorded from Queensland, northern Western Australia, the Northern Territory, New South Wales, and Victoria. It is an introduced species in Great Britain and France. This moth has a wingspan of approximately 20 millimetres, and its wings bear a distinct brown and white pattern. The larvae of Parapoynx polydectalis are aquatic, and feed on water weeds.
