Parapoynx maculalis, commonly called the polymorphic pondweed moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Crambidae. It was first described by James Brackenridge Clemens in 1860. This species is found in eastern North America, where it has been recorded from the following locations: Alabama, Alberta, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Brunswick, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Newfoundland, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Pennsylvania, Quebec, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin. The species inhabits ponds and streams. The wingspan of adult moths ranges from 18 to 22 mm. Its forewings are white, with fuscous dusting along the base and a fuscous spot at the base of the fold. The hindwings are pure white. The larvae of Parapoynx maculalis feed on a variety of aquatic plants. Young larvae are light yellowish brown, with a dark yellowish-brown head.
