Paraplotosus butleri, commonly known as the sailfin catfish, is a species of catfish that belongs to the family Plotosidae. This species can be found on coastal reefs off northern Australia, and across the Western Pacific, including New Guinea, Island Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and the Ryukyu Islands. It inhabits shallow coastal waters down to 5 metres in depth, and can grow to a maximum standard length of approximately 32.5 centimetres (12.8 inches). Mature adult individuals of this species are solid black in color.
