About Paranemonia cinerea (Contarini, 1844)
Paranemonia cinerea, also called Anemonia cinerea or the grass crack anemone, is a species of sea anemone that lives in the Mediterranean Sea. Its primary habitat is coastal lagoons in the Adriatic Sea, and it has been recorded on the coasts of Albania, France, Greece, Italy, and Spain. This species was originally considered endemic to the Mediterranean Sea, until a population was discovered in Ria de Arosa in 1992. New findings of this species are complicated by its tendency to be easily confused with Anemonia sulcata.
