The blacksaddle filefish, scientifically named Paraluteres prionurus (Bleeker, 1851), is a species of filefish belonging to the family Monacanthidae. This species reaches a maximum total length of 11 cm. Blacksaddle filefish live in pairs or small schools, and inhabit reef systems across the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean. Their body coloration ranges from sandy to grey, with characteristic distinct black saddle-shaped markings on the back, and a yellow tail fin.
