About Parajulis poecilepterus (Temminck & Schlegel, 1845)

Parajulis poecilepterus, originally published as Julis poecilepterus by Coenraad Jacob Temminck and Hermann Schlegel in 1845, is a species of wrasse. Its type locality is the Bay of Sinabara in Japan, and it is the only known member of the genus Parajulis. This wrasse is native to the northwestern Pacific Ocean along the Asian coast. It is an inshore species that lives in areas with a pebbly substrate. This species reaches a total length of 34 cm (13 in). It is commercially important, farmed, popular as a game fish, and sold in the aquarium trade.
