Paragomphus elpidius, commonly known as the corkscrew hooktail, is a dragonfly species that belongs to the family Gomphidae. This species has been recorded in Botswana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, and it may also be present in Burundi. Its natural habitats include subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, dry savanna, moist savanna, subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, subtropical or tropical moist shrubland, rivers, freshwater lakes, intermittent freshwater lakes, freshwater marshes, and intermittent freshwater marshes.
