About Papilionanthe teres (Roxb.) Schltr.

Papilionanthe teres (Roxb.) Schltr. is an orchid species with many variations. In the horticultural trade, this species was formerly known as Vanda teres and Ple. teres. It is found across many parts of South-East Asia, ranging north as far as Yunnan, and also occurs in colder regions such as the Himalayan foothills. The variety 'Andersonii' of this species is the pod parent of Papilionanthe Miss Joaquim, the national flower of Singapore, which is the only country that has a hybrid as its national flower.
