About Papilio paris Linnaeus, 1758

Papilio paris, commonly known as the Paris peacock swallowtail, is a species of swallowtail butterfly. It is found across the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Its specific distribution range includes the Himalayas from Kumaon to Sikkim, Nepal, and Bhutan, as well as the hills of Assam, Burma, and Tenasserim, extending further into Thailand and the Malay Peninsula. It is a common insect in Sikkim, where it can be found from the Terai region up to an elevation of 5,000 feet (1,500 m). It is rare in Burma and Tenasserim, and also occurs in some parts of the Western Ghats in India.
