About Papilio echerioides Trimen, 1868

Scientific name: Papilio echerioides Trimen, 1868

Male Papilio echerioides are very similar in appearance to Papilio cynorta. They differ in their very pale yellow median band, which tapers much more strongly toward the wing apex. Additionally, the pale spot in cell 6 of the forewing is always present in Papilio echerioides, while this spot is usually absent in P. cynorta.

Female Papilio echerioides are mimics of the butterfly species Amauris echeria and Amauris albimaculata. Females have a black forewing marked with white spots, and a black hindwing with a large pale ochreous discal area and white submarginal spots.
