About Papilio andraemon Hübner, 1823
The wingspan of Papilio andraemon Hübner, 1823 measures 96–102 millimetres, which is equal to 3.8–4.0 inches. On the obverse (upper) side of the wings, the base color is black. The forewings have a pale yellow band, plus a thin band of the same pale yellow color located in the wing cell. The hindwings are extended by long, thin tails that are slightly widened at their tips. The hindwings also bear a pale yellow band that connects to and extends the pale yellow band on the forewings. They have submarginal yellow and orange lunules, a brick red ocellus topped by an iridescent blue lunule in the anal angle, and diffuse iridescent blue lunules in the submarginal area. On the reverse (lower) side of the wings, the same general patterns appear as on the obverse, but in lighter colors. The submarginal blue lunules are more numerous and more distinct on the reverse side. The hindwings also have an extra reddish marking in the submarginal area on their reverse side. The body is pale yellow overall, with a black upper surface.
