Its scientific classification is credited to Linnaeus in 1758. This species can be found in Queensland (Australia), Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and the surrounding islands of this region. The wingspan of adult Pantoporia venilia is approximately 40 millimeters. The larvae of this butterfly have been recorded on Lepidopetalum subdichotomum.
