About Pandanus aquaticus F.Muell.

Pandanus aquaticus F.Muell., commonly known by its native name andjimdjim, is a species of the genus Pandanus in the plant family Pandanaceae. This species is endemic to the more humid regions of Australia’s Northern Territory, and is strictly confined to river shallows and areas regularly affected by flooding. It grows as a small tree that reaches roughly 6 metres, or 20 feet, in height. Like most species in the Pandanus genus, it produces downward-arching prop roots; in this species, these roots can grow permanently in water, similar to mangroves.
