About Panaeolus acuminatus (P.Kumm.) Quél.
Panaeolus acuminatus (P.Kumm.) Quél. is a small brown mushroom that produces black spores. Its cap measures less than 4 cm across, is hygrophanous, and ranges in shape from conic to campanulate to plane, usually with an umbo. The gills are dark purplish black, crowded, and include several tiers of intermediate gills. The spores measure (11) 13–15 (17) x 9–11 (12) x (6.5) 7–8 (9) micrometers, are smooth, black, and lemon-shaped. Cheilocystidia are present in this species. This mushroom grows in grass and dung. It has been found across North America and Europe, and is very widely distributed.
