About Palumbina guerinii (Stainton, 1857)

Palumbina guerinii is a moth species that belongs to the Gelechiidae family. This moth occurs in southern Europe; its range extends north from the Iberian Peninsula to France, and east to Italy and Greece. The wingspan of Palumbina guerinii measures approximately 11 mm. Its forewings are pale olive grey, and are slightly darker towards the posterior end. An oblique whitish fascia sits before the middle of the forewing, and is closest to the wing base on the inner margin; the whitish color of this fascia runs along the edges of the costa and inner margin to the middle of the wing. Beyond the middle of the forewing, there is a whitish blotch that does not reach the costa, and is intersected by two dark olive-grey veins. The apex of the forewing is whitish, with grey streaks. The hindwings of Palumbina guerinii are pale grey. This species is considered a pest of pistachio trees.
