About Palpopleura sexmaculata (Fabricius, 1787)
Palpopleura sexmaculata is a small dragonfly species. It has greenish eyes capped with brown. Its thorax is greenish yellow, and the hind-wings are usually tinted yellow starting from the base. In adult individuals, the pterostigma is black, while it is bi-colored in juveniles, sub-adults, and females. The abdomen is covered in light blue pruinescence, leaving segments 1 through 3 yellow. Sub-adult males and females are yellow overall. The pterostigma of females is bi-colored, half black and half yellow. This species breeds in marshy areas and small hill pools.
