About Palpares caffer (Burmeister, 1839)

Palpares caffer is a relatively large antlion species, with a wing length of approximately 5 centimeters. This species is distributed in South Africa, ranging northward from the Grahamstown area of Eastern Cape to Limpopo province. It has also been documented in Namibia and Mozambique. It is fairly common in high-altitude grassland habitats, found at elevations between 1,000 and 2,000 meters above sea level.
