About Palmadusta asellus (Linnaeus, 1758)

Palmadusta asellus is a species of cowry with a shell that grows to around 2.8 centimeters (1.1 inches) long. Its shells are white, with three broad brown transverse bands across the upper surface. The species has a brown mantle marked with multiple whitish spots; in living cowries, this mantle almost completely covers the shell. This species can be found in seas off Aldabra, Chagos, the Comores, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, the Red Sea, Réunion, the Seychelles, and Tanzania.
