Palisota bracteosa C.B.Clarke is a plant species belonging to the Commelinaceae family. It is native to western Africa, where it occurs specifically in Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, the Gulf of Guinea islands, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Togo. This species is an herbaceous plant with leaves arranged in a rosette, and it does not produce a stem. Its flowers are pinkish-white or white, and its fruits are red. Palisota bracteosa is used for a wide range of medicinal purposes. Both the hairs and the sap of its fruit act as irritants. This species has been introduced to Trinidad and Tobago, and it is either naturalized or currently naturalizing in Hawaii.
