About Paectes abrostoloides Guenée, 1852

Paectes abrostoloides, commonly known as the large paectes moth or sweetgum defoliator, is a moth species in the family Euteliidae. Achille Guenée first formally described this species in 1852. In the United States, its range extends from Massachusetts south to Florida, west to Arizona, and north to Utah. It has also been documented in the Antilles and Honduras. The wingspan of adult Paectes abrostoloides measures 27 to 32 millimeters. Adults are active in flight from April through October. The larvae of this species feed on the leaves of Liquidambar styraciflua.
