Packera paupercula (Michx.) Á.Löve & D.Löve is a flowering plant species that belongs to the genus Packera in the Asteraceae family. This species is native to North America, where it is widespread across Canada and most of the United States. It has two common names: balsam ragwort and balsam groundsel. It is a perennial herb that reaches a height between 1 and 3 feet, or 0.30 to 0.91 meters. It can be found growing in wet meadows, open woodlands, and rocky outcrops. In the southern portion of its native range, it can begin flowering as early as April, while flowering occurs as late as August in the northern part of its range.
