About Pacificanthia consors (LeConte, 1851)
Pacificanthia consors, commonly called the brown leatherwing beetle, is a species of soldier beetle that belongs to the family Cantharidae. This species is found in North America, with most records coming from California. Adult individuals of this species measure between 14 and 19 millimeters in body length. Their bodies are orange, with brown wing covers, and their legs are reddish with distinct black markings. Adults are most commonly active in flight during the months of April and May. Both adult beetles and their larvae spend most of their time in plant litter, where they hunt and feed on other soil-dwelling animals.
