About Pachygaster atra Panzer, 1797

This is a species of minute fly, with a recorded body length of 2–3 mm. Individuals have a lustrous, brilliant black body and a round abdomen. Their eyes are black and green, the proboscis is brown, and the halteres are brown. Antennae are brown in males; in females, antennae are red, with the apical half slightly yellow. This species is distributed across West Europe, Central and South European Russia, and the Caucasus, and it is common in these areas.
