About Oxyopes sertatus L.Koch, 1878
Oxyopes sertatus L.Koch, 1878 displays clear sexual dimorphism, as females of this species grow larger than males. According to the 1906 original description by Bösenberg and Strand, females have a total body length ranging from 7 to 11 mm, while males measure approximately 9 mm. The carapace is pale brownish; in living individuals, it may sometimes appear greenish. Its eye region sits on a yellowish area covered in pale yellow hairs. Behind each of the six upper eyes lies a deep black spot, which is typically larger than the eye itself. The abdomen is yellowish-white, marked with a broad brownish or gray-brown cardiac stripe that often extends all the way to the spinnerets. Dark diagonal stripes run from the sides of the abdomen toward its center. The legs are brownish-yellow and bear strong, long spines, which are particularly prominent on the tibiae and metatarsi. Oxyopes sertatus has a wide distribution across East Asia, with confirmed records from India, Nepal, China, Taiwan, Korea, and Japan. This species was first reported from India in 2020, an observation that extended its known geographic range westward.
