About Oxyopes lineatus Latreille, 1806
Oxyopes lineatus Latreille, 1806 has a body color that ranges from yellowish to light brown, patterned with white markings. Like most spider species, it is sexually dimorphic, with males distinctly smaller than females. Adult males reach a body length of around 4–5 mm, while adult females have a body length of 6–8 mm. This species has eight total eyes: one pair of large eyes positioned at the front, with a smaller pair located below these large front eyes. A pair of medium-sized eyes sits high on the sides of the head, and another pair of large eyes faces upward and backward. This arrangement of eyes gives Oxyopes lineatus an almost 360-degree field of view. Consistent with other members of the Oxyopidae family, its legs bear long spines arranged in a basket-like formation, which helps confine prey during capture. Oxyopes lineatus is primarily a European spider. It has been recorded from multiple European countries including Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Slovenia, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Switzerland, Romania, Ukraine, and southern Russia, as well as from Turkey, the Near East, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. Individuals are most frequently found on small plants close to the ground, especially in bushes and grasses.
