About Oxycera rara (Scopoli, 1763)

Description: Adults of Oxycera rara have a body length of 7 mm and a wing length of 7 mm. Both males and females have two spines on the scutellum. The most distinctive diagnostic feature for this species is that its second abdominal tergite is completely black and bears no markings. Distribution: This species occurs in Europe across southern England, Wales, Italy, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, and Yugoslavia. In Africa, it can be found in Tunisia and Algeria.
