About Oxybia transversella Duponchel, 1836

Oxybia is a monotypic snout moth genus, which was described by Hans Rebel in 1901. The genus contains only one species: Oxybia transversella, originally described by Philogène Auguste Joseph Duponchel in 1836. This species is found in southern Europe and the Canary Islands. Specimens collected from Fuerteventura differ from other members of the species. The larvae of Oxybia transversella feed on Psoralea bituminosa.
