About Oxalis spiralis G.Don

Oxalis spiralis, commonly known as spiral sorrel, is a plant species in the genus Oxalis, which belongs to the wood sorrel family Oxalidaceae. This species is native to Central America and western South America. Spiral sorrel is cultivated for its ornamental value. Several cultivars of the subspecies Oxalis spiralis subsp. vulcanicola are currently available: O. spiralis subsp. vulcanicola 'Aureus' has bright yellow-green foliage; O. spiralis subsp. vulcanicola 'Molten Lava' has bright yellow-green and copper-red foliage; O. spiralis subsp. vulcanicola 'Zinfandel' has dark purple, nearly black foliage; and O. spiralis subsp. vulcanicola 'Plum Crazy' has dark purple foliage with random variegation.
