About Oxalis incarnata L.

Oxalis incarnata L. is a species of flowering plant in the woodsorrel family, commonly known as pale pink-sorrel and crimson woodsorrel. It is native to southern Africa, and has been introduced to other continents, where introduced populations are often descended from plants that escaped from garden cultivation. It is grown and kept as an ornamental plant. This species is a perennial herb that grows from a system of rhizomes and bulbs. Its branching, hairless stem reaches a maximum length of nearly 30 centimeters. Small bulblets can form along the stem above ground. Its leaves grow on long petioles in erect clusters, and each individual leaf is composed of three leaflets. A single flower is produced on a peduncle, and each flower has five petals that range from white to light pink in color.
