About Oxalis dillenii Jacq.
Oxalis dillenii Jacq., commonly known as southern wood-sorrel, slender yellow woodsorrel, or Dillen's oxalis, is a species belonging to the woodsorrel family. Like other species in the Oxalis genus, its leaves resemble clover leaves, each bearing three leaflets. This species can be easily confused with other small yellow-flowered Oxalis species native to North America, including Oxalis florida. Its flowers have five yellow petals that measure 4 to 10 mm (0.16 to 0.39 inches) in length. Its leaflets are 1 to 2 cm (0.39 to 0.79 inches) wide and covered in pointed hairs. The fruits are typically brown and range from 1.5 to 2.5 cm (0.59 to 0.98 inches) long. Oxalis dillenii is often classified as a weed. It can now be found growing worldwide, though it most likely originated in North America.
