Ovophis makazayazaya is a snake species with a total body length ranging from 49 to 110 cm (19.3 to 43.3 inches). Similar to many other snake species, female individuals of this species grow larger than males. The number of ventral scales in O. makazayazaya ranges from 131 to 155. This species can be identified by two key diagnostic traits: its fourth supralabial scale is larger than its third, and it has paired caudal scales.
