About Orthotylus marginalis Reuter, 1883
Adults of Orthotylus marginalis Reuter, 1883 measure 6 millimetres (0.24 in) in length, and have a green body. Their upper surface is covered in dense pale hairs, and their antennae are brownish. This bug feeds on a range of host plants including alder, apple trees, currant, sloe, sallow, and willows. Adult bugs also prey on insects and mites from the families Aphididae, Tetranychidae, and Psyllidae. Orthotylus marginalis is not an obligate zoophage, and in some cases it feeds on pear tree tissue, causing damage including the development of stoney pits in pears.
