It is now placed in the family Cisticolidae. This species can be found in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, and subtropical or tropical mangrove forest.
