About Orthotaenia undulana (Denis & Schiffermüller), 1775

Orthotaenia undulana is a moth species belonging to the family Tortricidae, found in the Palearctic realm. This moth has a wingspan ranging from 15 to 20 millimeters. Its overall coloration is light, consisting of beige and white with dark patches. When resting on a surface, its patterning provides excellent camouflage, making the moth resemble a bird dropping. The base color of the forewings is either brownish or grayish, with a pale cross-band marked by fine brown lines. Most of the wing tip is white, but it bears small brown streaks, spots, and a larger brown marking along the outer edge. The hindwings are light brown in color. Adult Orthotaenia undulana fly from May through mid-August. The larvae of this species feed on honeysuckle, Vaccinium, pine, and birch.
