Orthops campestris (Linnaeus, 1758) measures 4 millimetres (0.16 inches) in length and has short antennae. Members of this species feed on a variety of host plants: wild parsnip, Angelica, Heracleum, Aegopodium, Daucus, Anthriscus, Pimpinella, Anethum, and Lovage (Levisticum officinale) grown in gardens. Adult individuals overwinter, then mate in the spring. The new generation of this species emerges in July.
