About Orthomegas cinnamomeus (Linnaeus, 1758)
The general body color of Orthomegas cinnamomeus matches the color of cinnamon. The front of the head is covered in hair. Its eyes are black, and wrap almost all the way around the head, only separated by a narrow gap both above and below. The antennae are shorter than the body, and become flattened toward their tips. The sides of the thorax are thin and edged with a margin; the thorax bears two spines, with the posterior spine being the larger. On the upper surface of the thorax there are two round tubercles, covered in very short fine hairs or down. The scutellum is small and rounded. The elytra have a deep margin along the sides, with a much fainter margin along the suture. They extend past the anus, and have a small spine at their tips. At their extremities, the elytra are nearly as broad as the thorax. They are covered in extremely short fine hairs, which also cover the abdomen and breast. The tibiae have two spurs. The total body length of this species is 2 1/4 inches (57 mm).
