About Orochaenactis thysanocarpha (A.Gray) Coville
Orochaenactis thysanocarpha is an annual herb that grows a slender, often branching stem reaching up to approximately 25 centimeters in height. The plant is covered in a thin to dense layer of hairs, which are often glandular. Its narrow leaves are generally linear in shape, and can grow up to 4 centimeters long. This species produces an inflorescence in the form of a small flower head, lined with purple phyllaries that are nested inside a cluster of leaflike bracts. The flower head holds several yellow disc florets. The fruit this plant produces is a ribbed achene, tipped with a pappus made of fringelike scales. The total length of the fruit is around half a centimeter.
