About Opuntia gosseliniana F.A.C.Weber

Like most prickly pear cacti, Opuntia gosseliniana F.A.C.Weber has flat pads. Unlike most prickly pears, its pads have a violet, pink, or red tinge. Mature individuals of this cactus grow to heights between one and five feet, and produce either yellow or red blooms. Existing taxonomic issues complicate efforts to describe the distribution of this species and its specific varieties. Opuntia gosseliniana is most well-documented from Mexico, but has also been reported in the United States state of Arizona. It has been found growing in Pima County, Arizona, as well as the Mexican states of Baja California, Chihuahua, and Sonora.
