Ophiothrix spiculata, commonly called the western spiny brittle star, is a species of marine invertebrate that belongs to the order Ophiurida. It occurs along the Pacific coast of North and South America, ranging from the area below San Francisco Bay to Peru. Individual western spiny brittle stars display a range of different body colors, though they typically have orange longitudinal stripes along their arms. The body of this species can grow up to 2 centimeters across. This species was first formally described by J. L. Le Conte in 1851.
