About Ophiomyia camarae Spencer, 1963

Ophiomyia camarae Spencer, 1963 is a species of fly. It is native to the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America, and Florida. It has been intentionally introduced as a biological control agent targeting Lantana camara to many countries located outside the Americas. Adult individuals of this species are 1.5 to 2 mm long, and have a shiny black body with red compound eyes. Confirmed recorded distribution of the species includes Florida and Trinidad.
