About Ophioglossum californicum Prantl

Ophioglossum californicum is a small, fleshy perennial plant that grows from a caudex that is no more than 1.5 centimeters wide. It produces just one leaf each year. Each leaf is divided into two distinct parts: a thick, green, blade-shaped sterile portion, and a fertile stalk. The fertile stalk is lined with two rows of sporangia, which are the plant's reproductive parts.
