Omphalocera cariosa is a species of snout moth. It is the type species of the genus Omphalocera. This species was first described by Julius Lederer in 1863. Its distribution ranges from North America to Brazil; within North America, it has been recorded in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia. In North America, adult moths are active in flight from May through August. Larvae of this species have been documented feeding on Menispermum canadense.
